As a travel, fashion, and beauty blogger, I’m always on the hunt for unique experiences that are both visually stunning and memorable. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll definitely want to add teamLab Planets to your must-do list. This immersive art exhibit is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before, and I’m here to tell you all about it.

As soon as you step inside teamLab Planets, you’re transported to a world that’s part whimsy, part wonder. It’s hard to describe the overall vibe of the exhibit, as it’s a transformative journey that explores space, water, 3-dimensional existence, and everything in between. One of my favorite installations is the Floating in the Falling Universe of Flowers, where you’re immersed in a world and float with various flowers through different seasons. I recommend laying on the floor on your back to truly become one with the digital art space. It’s truly awe-inspiring.
Of course, no visit to teamLab Planets would be complete without taking some Instagram-worthy shots – don’t worry, there are a ton! The floating flower garden is definitely the most photogenic, but it’s also the shortest installation, so be sure to have your camera ready. And speaking of photos, there are plenty of opportunities for selfies and group shots throughout the exhibit.

As someone who’s visited many immersive art experiences in the past, I can confidently say that teamLab Planets is in a league of its own. It’s hands down the best immersive art experience I’ve ever attended. The sound and music that accompany each installation only enhance the experience, making you feel like you’re in a movie. You know, that main character energy.
But teamLab Planets isn’t just a passive experience – visitors are encouraged to touch and interact with the installations in various ways. For example, you’ll walk through water at times, and there’s even a soft black hole at the entrance where your body becomes a space that influences other bodies. And don’t forget to stop and read the descriptions of each installation, as they add another layer of depth to the experience. You can also download their app prior to your visit to get more information on each of the exhibits to enhance your experience.
If you’re planning a visit to teamLab Planets, there are a few insider tips you’ll want to keep in mind. First and foremost, get your tickets in advance to avoid any disappointment. Additionally, while the exhibit isn’t near a ton of other tourist spots, I’d recommend going in the morning to beat the crowds & get on with your day – we went at 10 am, and it was perfect. Also, since it takes about 2-3 hours to complete, you may be hungry after. Pack some snacks from your local 7/11, they have lockers you put your items in at no additional charge & an outdoor area to hang after where you can have a quick bite before heading to your next stop. I would also recommend wearing loose pants or shorts (weather permitting) because you’re going to walk through water at times that can be as high as your knees. And if you plan on wearing a dress, make sure to wear shorts as there are mirrors everywhere, including the floor in some exhibits. And just when you think the experience is over, there’s more to explore.
So if you are in Tokyo for more than a day, what are you waiting for? Add this to your Japan itinerary! Book your tickets, grab your camera, and get ready for an experience you won’t forget.
Xoxo,
KH
